HOMECOMING SUNDAY -- NOVEMBER 3, 2019

Image
The first Sunday of every November is Homecoming Sunday.  It is the anniversary of the founding of our congregation.  This year we celebrated 97 years. There was quite a crowd at Coffee and Learning, the group that meets for Bible Study before the morning service. We were having a lunch after the morning service and so all the tables were decorated with either pumpkins or acorns and fall leaves. In the sanctuary each windowsill had live flowers donated to us by the Hatfield Tuesday Dinner group.  They are the group that gave us new landscaping in front of the church.  We were told we could each take one home and use it as a reminder to pray for the church. The morning worship service.  Pastor Ritter at the front. The singing was fantastic. Prayer request time.   Our sweet Rose almost always has a message of love and a song to sing for us.  This week was no exception. Pastor's message was about the Christ centered church.  Wh

WISSINOMING PRAYER WALK

Image
This evening Wissinoming Bible Fellowship Church joined with three other churches in the neighborhood to participate in an hour long prayer walk.  The other churches, True Vine Church, Grace City Church, and Crossroads Community Church, gathered at WBFC to begin the walk.  We were also joined by our sister church La Roca de Reading. The walk lasted about one hour.  The 30 plus participants were broken up into five groups who walked a predetermined route from one church to the next ending at Crossroads Community.  During that time over 12 people were approached, prayed with, invited to attend a church tomorrow and three people were given a Bible. As the evening ended all the participants gathered for a time of sharing and singing praises to God.  Everyone is anxious to do this again and plans are being made to that end. Please pray that those contacted and those blocks of houses and churches prayed over will be led to join with us and to know Christ as Lord and Savior. Below are

LADIES BIBLE STUDY - 2 TIMOTHY 1:1-5

Image
Today's study is from 2 Timothy 1:1-5.  The key verses for this chapter are verses 8-9. Join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God.  He has saved us and called us to a holy life -- not because of anything we have done, but because of his own purpose and grace. Reflection: Are there people who have been sources of encouragement to you during a difficult time in your life?  Remember what they did, what they said, and the way they timed their involvement with you.  How did they encourage you? Scripture: Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God according to the promise of the life that is in Christ Jesus. To Timothy, my beloved child:  Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. I thank God whom I serve, as did my ancestors, with a clear conscience, as I remember you constantly in my prayers night and day.  As I remember your tears, I long to see you, that I may be filled with joy.  I am reminded of your sincere fai

TUESDAY LADIES BIBLE STUDY

Image
The Tuesday Ladies Bible Study has had quite a history.  Originally it was begun by Elder Joe Specht at the request of Pastor Justin Hunter as a mid-week Bible study for retired and/or older adults to come together for coffee, cake and study.  This group eventually encompassed all ages and continued for a little over three years with various members coming and going.  It consisted of both men and women and usually there were around 10 to 12 people present.  We all remember the week that one young lady said, "I want to be saved.  Can you explain to me what I need to do?"  God really worked in this group. But as with all things, time changed the makeup of the study.  Eventually there were only women attending.  The elders thought at this point it should turn into a ladies Bible study and Mrs. Kathy Specht agreed to be the leader. During the five years under her leadership the group has studied the books of Ruth, Esther, Daniel, Mark, Acts, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippia
